School Year 2009-2010
As we near the end of this school year, It Is time to look ahead to the next one. There will be many changes next year and hopefully all of them will contribute toward making Blessed Sacrament School a better school than It already is. One of the biggest changes will be that we will participate In the Government Breakfast and Lunch Program. You will be asked to fill out an application form which will determine whether you are free, reduced or paid. Your status will depend on your income. Hopefully this program will help all of you save money. Plans are In the works to update our kitchen. We have had people come In to check our eqUipment and make suggestions for bringing the kitchen up to par. More details about this will follow In the next newsletter.
Our curriculum next year will be expanded to Include Art, Music, Computer and formal Spanish. Our Librarian, Mrs. O'Brien will continue to provide her wonderfUl classes. And our volunteers will help with Art and tutoring. It is Important that our children are exposed to all areas of the curriculum. We never know where the students' gifts are. Who knows we may have the next American Idol or Michelangelo or the top Spanish TV announcer.
Because of all of these extras we have to add on extra half an hour to our school day. So school will close at 3P.M. It Is Important that we do not rush through the other subjects to provide for these new ones.
We will also be doing a self-study next year In order to prepare us to be reaccredited by the Middle States Association. This organization sends a team around to schools to Investigate every aspect of the school. It requires much work from the faculty and staff. We will have to examine everything we teach and everything that Impacts upon the looming of the students. I have no doubt that Blessed sacrament School will come through with flying colors.
I know that the changes this year were difficult for many of you. Being part of a Consortium of Schools Is much different from being a stand alone school. Change sometimes brings pain and I realize that It takes time to get used to being a part of a new system. Hopefully all of you have a better understanding now. Always my focus has been on the children -Are they leaning? Is each one doing his/her best? Do they have a strong relationship with Jesus? Are they good to each other? Are they happy? All of you have done a wonderfUl job adjusting to Smart Tuition, Next year will be better!
And I know that there are some who Just could not accept the changes. I am sorry If this year Is more difficult than It should have been. We ask God blessings on Blessed Sacrament School and know that through Him all things are possible.
