SCHOOL LIFE

Immediately after Easter, the 4th Marking Period will begin. Usually this signifies the end of the school year and thoughts of a long hot Summer. It also means that the children get into an end of the year mood and it can be hard to keep their attention on school work. During these last few months, we will be concentrating on improving writing skills in our school. This includes both handwriting and creative writing. It is very important that our students are able to express themselves well in writing.

We will be linking Reading, Writing and Library in an effort to bring out the best in our students. Please work with them at home. Allow the children to write a story and read it to the family. Encourage them to read books that improve their vocabulary and set their imaginations on fire. Read to them and write a story for them. Monitor their time watching TV or playing video games. A good book goes a long way in helping your child improve oral reading, vocabulary, sentence structure and writing skills. Let books become their friends.

The Library continues to be a bee hive of activity, Great things are happening there. I am noticing that the students are now choosing books on their level and more inclined to read books that are challenging. We received a donation of more books in March and Mrs. O'Brien is busy sorting them and placing them on the shelves. We are really blessed to have such a competent Librarian. She has made a big difference in the spirit of the school and we are grateful.

We have much to thank God for and as always our greatest blessings are your children. Thank you for entrusting them to us.
